PDAC Verified for Microprocessor Controlled Swing & Stance
True Biomechanical Function:
The SLK™ 3.0 KD is the only Microprocessor Knee in the world designed specifically for the biomechanical needs of Knee Disarticulation patients.Read more ↓ Cosmetic evenness in the sitting position is impossible with any other Microprocessor Knee. The knee replicates the natural leg shortening of the human knee during swing phase. This provides the Amputee with a proper “no limp” gait. Safe Toe-Clearance is achieved without shortening the pylon, allowing level hips during standing. State of the art Pneumatics require near zero energy expenditure maintaining end-of-the-day stamina.
Self-Learning Technology:
The SLK™ 3.0 KD Knee utilizes Self-Learning Technology to self-program and continually self-adjust as the Amputee’s gait progresses.Read more ↓ The Prosthetist simply selects the preferred “Matrix,” then allows the knee to program itself as the Amputee walks.
The Function of the Microprocessor:
The SLK™ 3.0 KD employs 2 types of sensors.Read more ↓ One sensor measures the precise flexion/extension speed and angle. The other sensor, a 3-Dimensional gyroscopic sensor, detects the acceleration/deceleration of even the slightest movements in any direction in space. Instantly gathering data from this dual sensor system enables the Microprocessor to accurately recreate natural biomechanical gait based on the unique walking pattern of the Amputee. Contrary to other MPKs, the Self-Learning Knee (SLK) will forever continue adjusting to the progression in the Amputee’s gait.
Randy’s own words: “It’s not an exaggeration to say that the SLK truly changed my life!”
After 11 years of using heavy MPKs, Randy lived with constant back pain and relied on daily pain medication and regular physical therapy to get by. He believed this chronic back pain was just part of wearing an MPK.
Then he tried the lightweight SLK 3.0. Since switching, his pain is completely gone and he has more energy than he’s had in years. Randy says it changed his life.
“I’ve been wearing microprocessor knees since I became an above knee amputee 11 years ago. I’ve worn MPKs from Ottobock, Ossur, and Blatchford. They all felt heavy, but I thought that was a normal part of wearing an MPK. The horrible pain that developed in my lower back was something I had gotten used to over the years. To manage the pain, I attended physical therapy 2-3 times per week. I was taking over-the-counter pain meds all day, every day. My physical therapist and I knew the pain originated from the heavy weight of my microprocessor knee but there was nothing we could do about that. Or so I thought!
I’ve been walking with the SLK for 6 months now. The SLK is so lightweight that the pain in my lower back is completely GONE! I haven’t needed to go back to physical therapy since I was fit with the SLK! I don’t even take pain medication anymore! It’s so much lighter and so much easier to walk with than every other microprocessor knee I’ve worn in the past. This knee has been a Godsend! Finally, a microprocessor knee that lets me be myself again!
Thanks to the SLK, I can spend all day on my feet in the woodshop, and I never get tired! I’ve never been more confident walking up and down hills. I can feel the SLK’s Artificial Intelligence adjusting to my movements if I start to walk up or down hills or change my walking speed. I didn’t realize how much extra work I was doing to walk with those other heavy MPKs in the past. My wife Linda can’t believe how much more energy I have now!
It’s not an exaggeration to say that the SLK truly changed my life! I can’t believe I’m living a pain free life now! People need to know about this knee! Thank you to the team at DAW!”

Paul’s own words: “I’m not tired at the end of the day ANYMORE!”
After years of struggling with several heavy or unresponsive MPKs, Paul finally found the one that feels natural and lightweight. Thanks to the SLK his posture is better and he now has the energy to stay active all day.
“Over the years, I’ve used several microprocessor knees. The Ossur Rheo* was way too heavy. The Ottobock C-leg* felt and responded like a brick. After experiencing the DAW SLK Microprocessor for a few months now, I couldn’t be happier!”
“The SLK feels so much lighter. It feels like I use half as much energy to walk compared to anything I’ve used in the past. My posture is better and I’m not tired at the end of the day anymore. The Polycentric Design allows me to walk with my legs closer together and it feels much more natural. I like to hunt and with the SLK, I feel more stable walking on uneven ground. I feel like I can finally be more active!”

What is a Matrix ?
The SLK™ 3.0 KD comes pre-programmed with 5 different Matrices to accommodate patients of a different capabilities. Match your Patient to their Matrix using the chart below.
With your Patient’s Matrix selected, Self-Learning technology will do the rest of the programming for you, fine-tuning extension/flexion resistance in the swing and stance phases. Unlike any other MPK, the SLK™ 3.0 KD will continue to self-learn; continuously adjusting itself to your Patient as they progress.
You and your Patient may want to compare the function of different Matrices for preference. A Quick-Start Card™ arrives with the knee and provides instructions on how to input and change your Patient’s Matrix.
