“I’ve been wearing microprocessor knees since I became an above knee amputee 11 years ago. I’ve worn MPKs from Ottobock, Ossur, and Blatchford. They all felt heavy, but I thought that was a normal part of wearing an MPK. The horrible pain that developed in my lower back was something I had gotten used to over the years. To manage the pain, I attended physical therapy 2-3 times per week. I was taking over-the-counter pain meds all day, every day. My physical therapist and I knew the pain originated from the heavy weight of my microprocessor knee but there was nothing we could do about that. Or so I thought!

I’ve been walking with the SLK for 6 months now. The SLK is so lightweight that the pain in my lower back is completely GONE! I haven’t needed to go back to physical therapy since I was fit with the SLK! I don’t even take pain medication anymore! Thanks to the SLK, I can spend all day on my feet in the woodshop, and I never get tired! I’ve never been more confident walking up and down hills.
